Mike Bode, President

Mike Bode,  President Mike Bode moved to Arizona from Michigan in 1974 where he began to work his way up through the ranks of the steel industry. Mike is a real expert in the steel trade having worked as a sheet metal fabricator, welder, crane technician, erection foreman, structural steel inspector, and a production manager. Mike has been an integral part in the building industry, watching the valley grow from a small city in 1974 to the metropolis Phoenix is today.

In 2000 Mike decided that it was time to put all of his knowledge to work for himself and started Castle Steel with Eric Wolfe. Since 2000, Mike has estimated, built, and managed over 4 million square feet under roof in Structural Steel projects and over 1 million square feet under roof in Pre-engineered Metal Building projects.

As President of Castle Steel, Mike is responsible for overall client satisfaction and quality control, a job he takes very seriously. In addition, he works directly with Architects and General Contractors to  provide design assist solutions on projects of all size and complexity. Mike is proud of the growth of the company , the employees, and the projects they have completed.

In addition to work, Mike’s hobbies range from golfing, which he only recently took up, to trap shooting, and hunting. Mike enjoys going to Diamondback games and rooting for the home team, in both the good times and bad.

Eric Wolfe, Vice-President

Eric Wolfe,  Vice-PresidentEric moved to Arizona in 1988 from New Mexico and began his career in the Structural Steel industry as a welder. Eric had a knack for the business and quickly moved through the ranks into field supervision and then to Project Management. Eric and Mike worked together at Summit Steel, Phoenix Crane, and finally at Arizona Building Systems which was owned by Dan Barnett. Dan encouraged Mike and Eric to open their own shop, so in 2000 they opened Castle Steel.

As Vice-President, Eric oversees the daily operations of the company. With his forte in the field erection of structural steel, he has overseen more than 4 million square feet under roof since 2000. In addition to his supervisory duties, Eric directs the structural steel teams and ensures safety is the Number 1 priority on all Castle Steel projects.

Eric enjoys trap and skeet shooting, off road dirt biking, and lifting heavy metal when time allows. Eric also enjoys spending time with his three daughters.

Bill Jellison, V.P. Pre-Engineered Metal Buildiongs

Bill Jellison Bill enjoys the Arizona climate and moved here in 2005. Bill served in the Navy from 1993 to 1998. Bill has been involved in the construction industry here in Arizona since 1997. In 1997 Bill started in the Structural Steel Erection side of the business and in 2005 joined Arizona Building Systems and moved over to the Pre-Engineered Metal Building side of the business.

In 2007 Castle Steel formed a separate division dedicated to Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings and pulled Bill in to be the Vice-President of that division and run all of those operations. Since 2007 Bill has been responsible for the construction of over 1 million square feet under roof of pre-engineered metal buildings. In 2009 Castle Steel Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings grew to become the largest erector of pre-engineered metal buildings in Arizona and was ranked as the 70th largest erector in the U.S.

You can find Bill out on the water most weekends boating and fishing. He also enjoys a round of golf at one of the many local courses and joins the crew for shooting in the fall and winter months.

Don Sobczak, V.P. Site Steel Specialties

Don SobczakDon is the Vice-President of Site Steel Specialties, Inc., and has been involved in the Arizona Construction market since 1985. Don was responsible for Sales and Marketing at OPC Fabrication, then went on to become one of the founding partners and the Sales Manager at Grate Solutions, Inc.

For the past 12 years, Don has been a leader in the steel fabrication business with his major emphasis being in the underground and sitework division, providing steel components for concrete structures. Don’s experience in the sales and supply side of the construction industry includes concrete accessories, cast in place concrete, pre-cast concrete, and chemicals for the concrete industry. His background is well suited for Site Steel Specialties which fabricates and supplies catch basin hardware, handrails, custom grating, and trash racks to the construction industry.

Don is dedicated to continue building his reputation for quality products, timely delivery, and excellent customer service. Don enjoys playing golf in his free time and he too enjoys trap and skeet shooting.

Michael Bratton, CFO

Michael BrattonMichael has been involved in the construction industry here in Arizona since graduating from Brophy High School in 1983. Michael grew up as an Air Force brat moving with his family all over the world. His last move was from England to Phoenix in 1975.

Michael attended ASU and obtained his BS in Business Administration. Michael continued his education working in the accounting field and in 1998 obtained his CPA designation.

Michael joined Castle Steel in July of 2007 as the CFO and has enjoyed his experience working with Mike and Eric. Michael has been instrumental in the expansion of the business and the acquisition of other entities.

Michael enjoys spending time with his family, camping and sight seeing. He too has been known to pick up a shotgun and join the group for trap and skeet shooting.
